So I owe this thing an update huh? Most of this is going to be me squealing over the MCR show from last weekend. I think I might be able to have enough coherent thought processes now to do this. But we'll see.
MCR, 4/19/08 @ The Fillmore in Detroit
Okay, seriously. I knew I was going to have a good time. It's me at a concert, there was no doubt that I was going to have a blast. But I did NOT know that I would have as much fun as I did. It was like some insane creature took over my body for the entire one and a half hour set. I was flailing and screaming and dancing and singing and...it was honestly hysterical, looking back at it. I was possessed, I tell you! What did they put in the water at this venue??
Two years ago, I would not have even thought about going to see MCR. I'd heard of them, but I'd never actually listened to their music. Now I'm just...in love. When I can go *that* nuts over a show? Yeah. I can't even try to do a setlist but I know we got "Ghost of You" (which from what I'd heard they hadn't done much before that date, if at all, and we did NOT get "The Sharpest Lives" which made me sigh a bit. But! "Desert Song"! Just...asdfkasjdk;lds. Yeah. It's once of those concerts that I can't even try to accurately review or give a breakdown of, because I was too busy ROCKING OUT to be coherent otherwise. I think the people behind us (who ended up next to us at one point because all the seats beside Kel never filled in [how do you not show up when you're not only in the only section of reserved seats, but you're in the FRONT ROW of them??]) were amused by us because we were being so loud and flailing so much. They were also a bit drunk but that's a whole other story.
At one point someone threw a hat on the stage that looked like a bug...complete with antennae. Gerard was like 'I'm so excited because I saw you in line earlier and I wanted this fucking hat. I'm not going to wear it but I wanted it.' He didn't put it on either. Sighs. Maybe he wore it later on the bus. In any case, he was the master of the diva hips which never ceased to make me either a) stare at him with huge eyes or b) burst into laughter. Frank was in his Frankilicious (new word!) glory, complete with flailing on the ground playing his guitar. And that was just the first song! Ray is...Ray. There are no words for the amazingness of that man. Mikey looked somewhat bored but awesome in his 'Mikey Fucking Way' shirt. And Bob? Well...not too sure about the hair but I have to be careful with him. If I start watching him play too much it's over. I'll be completely fixated for the rest of the night.
It was a welcome, VERY welcome, break from the shit that's been going on at work. That's for damn sure.
I could go on a complete tangent about work and the amount of hours I've been there and the shit that's going down but...I won't. We'll just say I'm taking a mental health day on Monday and using that time to drop off resumes and go down to see about testing for city and county jobs and other options. I will not be this department's punching bag any longer. And since they make sure to get in the way of every time I try to internally transfer? I'll just find somewhere else and leave.
[EDIT: Bwahahah I had it say '98' instead of '08'. Apparently it took me 10 years to update about the concert? Who knew?? LOL]
