So, wow! I'd been writing in this thing so much and then I just stopped. I call it sheer exhaustion really.

I've been non-stop working at my job here lately. Since before I took the 2 days off to see GC (and recuperate from the amazingness), I've been putting in at the very least 2 extra hours a day. Last week I hit the max amount we're allowed before going into double-time (55 hours) and I've been very very close the 2 weeks prior to that. It's been insane, and it's left me with barely enough time to read LJ, let alone post in it. I already worked 4 hours on Saturday (our weeks go Saturday-Friday) so I've already got OT in for this next week as well.

That means that my concert update ended up being pushed aside but let me just say this...there are NO WORDS that can adequately describe how freaking happy I was to see GC live again. It's been way too long (over 3 freaking years) and I just hope it's not that long before I get to see them again! They're still amazing, still gorgeous and I still love that band in massively huge amounts. I flailed and I screamed and I sang as loud as I possibly could...I think I may have weirded out the teenies next to me who only knew the GMR songs with the way I was acting. I seriously considered driving to OH, or flying to Baltimore to see them again, but my sense of responsibility ended up prevailing. Part of me is disappointed, part of me knows I did the right thing.

This weekend has been spent (when I wasn't working) battling a cold and hanging out at home with the cats. Oh, and running errands and doing laundry. I filled up both cars to try to keep Gustav from affecting us too much, but only time will tell whether that worked. I should run and get cat litter and food today but so far I'm being lazy. I really just don't want to do anything today. I'll get moving eventually though, I have to. The less there is to do during the week, the better off things will be for me. :)

Just got home.

I've missed them so much, and I want to do it again.

Kel and I scared the girls next to us because we sang and danced through the whole GC set, and they only knew 3 songs.

A better update after some sleep.
newdaydawning79: (Paul - looking down)
I can't believe I forgot to update yesterday! What the heck is that about?!

So yeah, we had to get up early yesterday so that Kel and her dad could finish things upstairs in our new bedroom. It's so sweet, we have SO much room up there. It'll be a great place to hang, and we can very easily put air mattresses up there when people come to visit. Of course, we also have 2 twin beds in the guest room so...hey, party at our place! :-D

While Kel and her dad were at Home Depot and Lowe's, I went on an errand run. Went to Hobby Lobby and got some crafty stuff that I needed (and, as always, picked up something I wanted but didn't actually need). Then I tried to find Breaking Dawn at Meijer and they were sold out...or just couldn't find the books. The system said they had 37 but there were none in the book section and none in back. So I headed to the mall instead and went to our local independent big bookstore, where I was able to grab it up without any trouble. So then I wandered the mall, got something Kel needed from Hot Topic and decided to get my hair trimmed up so it wouldn't be so heavy. It's amazing how curly my hair is when it isn't all weighed down!

We had an interesting bee fiasco after I got back from my shopping. Kel's mom was hanging out in the carport and she stirred up a nest of them that had gotten into a rug we had to put outside back when the house flooded. She got stung at least 5-10 times and the damn things kept following her. So then it was out again to get her some bee sting meds (and bug spray). Then it was pizza and chilling and napping and reading (I'm past page 300 already).

I meant to go into work this weekend because we're moving cubes while I'm gone next week. Somehow, I didn't make it. Ironically? I could care less. :-D

I'll update later with more. We're going out right now for the afternoon.

SO! I only have THREE MORE DAYS of work until I get to see my favorite band. I swear this is the only thing that's keeping me going at work right now. I'm so tired of that place I could scream.

Eight hours of OT last week, 9 this week...I feel so run down that I literally crawled into bed the minute I got home. I'm tired and stressed and I'm really really sick and tired of people. A lot of people.

I'm also starving so I'm going to go find food now.
newdaydawning79: (Benji - ice cream)
So finally, on THURSDAY, they stopped teasing me and told us how to enter the contest. It's safe to say that Kel and I are in the race and we'll find out on Monday whether or not we won. I'll be going crazy Monday morning but for now, all is good in the hood or however you want to put it.

Thursday and month end on the same day just plain sucks, let me tell you. I got to work at 7:30 and left at 7:00 and I didn't take a break, except to heat my lunch. It was hardcore but it's done now...and now that I've had ice cream and have checked my email and all that, I'm going to bed.

Not much to say today unless you want to hear me bitch about work so I'm going to shut up! :-D
newdaydawning79: (play with fire from CK)
OH! And because I suck and didn't post about this earlier...

My sister had her surgery Tuesday - I found out about it last minute because the only person who tells me *anything* is her 13-year-old daughter. It wasn't as bad as they'd originally thought, the cyst was more behind her eye than actually on the frontal lobe. In any case, it's off and it's clean and other than a headache, she's doing really well.

Now let's hope the drama subsides sometime soon with that clan. Somehow, I'm not holding my breath.
newdaydawning79: (Twins)
Yes I am insane enough to buy merch for a band just to enter a contest.

But...meet & greet/photo passes are something that you just don't get every day.

It's worth a shot, right?

Because I adore this meme...

Reply to this post, and I will write one thing I love about you. Maybe more than one. Then (if you want) repost to your own journal and spread the love.

You know how sometimes people on your friend's list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy mine below, erase my answers putting yours in their place then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration! One-word answers seldom help anyone out. :-D

Here we go with the questions... )

Dear Weather -

I know that it's that time of year. Trust me, I know that. I lived in Tornado Alley for 4 years, so in a way, I'm used to the warnings and sirens and tree branches falling down around me. However, this does not mean I like it and it definitely does NOT mean you can start pulling this shit every. single. night. So really, for my sanity and my ability to sleep, can you give it a rest? Feel free to rain, I don't mind rain. But the rest? Kindly wait til morning if it's a necessity. I'd appreciate it.

Love,
Me.

I need to stay on my friends page and not drift off.

Yeesh.

I have a splitting headache now.
newdaydawning79: (Benji - ice cream)
GC tickets have been acquired, after I nearly had a conniption fit trying to find the damn presale password.

Our tickets are like...2 seats over from our MCR tickets. So I'm freaking ecstatic.

Now we just need to make up our minds about Ohio dates...
newdaydawning79: (Joel - I feel beautiful from CK)
A GC tour date on a Thursday in Detroit...

Seriously, this news could NOT have come at a better time for me. After getting turned down for my transfer at work today, I needed good news. This is THE BEST!

Now if only I could find information about this presale...TM says it starts tomorrow @ 10 but there's no information ANYWHERE that tells me anything else! Grrrrr
newdaydawning79: (Default)
So I'm thinking I might dye my hair today. I'm in the mood for something a bit different than the natural color I've been sporting for the last 3 years or so.

I'm also back on my healthier eating regimen.

I'll come back later with pictures I'm sure. Wish me luck!!
newdaydawning79: (Jon Walker - pouty)
If any of you lovelies know anyone who'd want to see the Honda Civic Tour in Detroit on May 20, and doesn't have tickets, send them our way or to this link:

2 Tickets, Front Row Mezzanine - Honda Civic Tour 5/20/08

Pouty!Jon says thank you!

Tickets are sold! Took a couple dollar loss (damn ticketmaster fees) but now someone else will get to enjoy the show. That's what matters!
newdaydawning79: (music is life from ck)
So I owe this thing an update huh? Most of this is going to be me squealing over the MCR show from last weekend. I think I might be able to have enough coherent thought processes now to do this. But we'll see.

MCR, 4/19/08 @ The Fillmore in Detroit )

I could go on a complete tangent about work and the amount of hours I've been there and the shit that's going down but...I won't. We'll just say I'm taking a mental health day on Monday and using that time to drop off resumes and go down to see about testing for city and county jobs and other options. I will not be this department's punching bag any longer. And since they make sure to get in the way of every time I try to internally transfer? I'll just find somewhere else and leave.

[EDIT: Bwahahah I had it say '98' instead of '08'. Apparently it took me 10 years to update about the concert? Who knew?? LOL]

They're on the cover of the May 2008 AP and the article that goes with it (starting at page 120) is pretty awesome. I don't know if you all already knew about it but just in case, I thought I'd give you all a heads up!!!
